Starting from January 2020, SHARP has initiated several patent infringement lawsuits against OPPO in Tokyo Japan, Munich Germany etc., for the purpose of occupying the market.In this regard, OPPO responded forcefully. Since February of the same year, OPPO has filed two lawsuits against SHARP in Japan and China, and has successively filed invalid requests against several standard essential patents(SEPs) of SHARP in China. The overall target of this “patent attack and defense war” between OPPO and SHARP reached hundreds of millions of dollars.
Recently, Zhifan IP Attorneys, as the patent agency for OPPO, received two official patent invalidation decisions on SHARP relating to SEP patents 201010166268.4 and 201010164225.2. It was decided by CNIPA that the patent rights of the two SEP patents were invalid.
The above two patents are SHARP’s SEPs related to 4G, LTE and WIFI fields. The invalidity of both patents is decisive to the patent war between OPPO and SHARP.
